Do you have to eat carbs at the same time you eat protein for muscle building effects?

I like to throw my oats in with my protein shake just to save time, so that when i eat my whole food meal, all im eating is protein & vegetables. I heard something like you need carbs to activate the muscle building effects that proteins have, so by not eating the oats at the same time as the chicken, is that affecting the effectiveness of the protein?

  1. Your muscles will store your carbohydrates in the form of glycogen for use to build and repair later, so whenever you eat your carbs doesn't really matter.
