Muscle building - Can I mix protein powder in chocolate milk instead of plain water?
I take protein shake after my weight workouts and I used to shake it with water, but it taste awful, can I mix it into chocolate milk like DutchLady or Marigold chocolate milk? Is the sugar in the chocolate milk detrimental to my muscle-building plan? Thanks.

- yeah that would work... that is alot of sugar though why not just try normal 1 percent milk instead of chocolate milk. if it tastes awful after trying 1 percent milk, then switch to chocolate
- If your trying to build muscle, go for it! The more calories the better! The sugar in your chocolate milk won't effect your muscle gains. You might put on a little fat eventually, but thats to be expected when your trying to bulk up. The fat is easy to burn off later anyway. Gaining muscle is a lot harder than losing fat.
- Ive been working out for 22 years and have been asked this same question many times.first try using 2% milk or whole milk before jumping the gun and using choc milk.It can be bad and it can be good depending on what your trying to do to your body, how many calories your taking in and how many calories your burning. With the limited amount of info you have provided,I would suggest keeping down your simple sugar intake by using 2%milk.Simple sugars are not bad for you,as a matter of fact you need them to drive protien into your muscle tissue right after a workout.to much of them and they are stored as fat.hope this helps
