  1. Basically you want whey protein isolate for building/repairing muscle. You can get generic whey in various flavors inexpensively. Not so much a vitamin product, just the protein that you need. Wal Mart carries a good selection at great prices. Check them out. You can take in as much as 2 grams protein per pound of bodyweight if you're training hard. And on a high protein diet you also need the omega 3 fats to protect your heart from damage. Muscle Milk is great and it tastes great, probably the best protein drink. 30 gr protein per glass. I mix it with lofat milk and it tastes even richer. Probably the best overall protein drink mix with vitimins and omega 3's. I often add some of the cheaper whey to a glass for a bigger protein hit but still the great taste. You can buy individual premixed ready to drink bottles at GNC and some sports stores to try it out. There are other brands also but I think MM is all around best. http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/cs/milk.html Muscle Milk Collegiate is a full meal replacement mix and Muscle Milk Lite has fewer calories than regular MM. I also use Isoflex whey isolate, its one of the few protein powders that comes in an orange flavor, which I like during workouts. Its a bit pricey but it mixes easy and tastes good. http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/all/iso.html As far as carb supplements go, any maltodextrose product like Carbo Booster will do, they are inexpensive. Its basically a glucose polymer that can supply a lot of energy if you need it or else it will store as fat. Go easy on this stuff.
  2. Whey protein is the best supplement. There are a TON of different choices out there. I suggest buying a couple of smallish cans first and deciding which one you like best as far as taste. Some of them don't taste very good, and if you buy a 2-pound can and don't like it, guess what happens? I've thrown out more than my fair share of protein powders over the years because I couldn't stand the flavor. Little-known fact: Most supplements are made by a handful of manufacturers. Each supplement company has a specification (contents, flavors, etc.) that the manufacturers follow. The macro content (protein, carbs, and fat) are very similar per serving size. It's the flavoring additives that make the difference. Try before you buy a giant tub of stuff you won't ever eat.
