- What the hell is permanent muscle? Nothing is permanent. If you stop exercising you'll lose the muscle
- If you aren't already eating 5-6 balanced healthy meals a day, don't waste your money on supplements because 97% of your muscle gains will come from the nutritious foods you feed it and supplements will only squeeze out that last 3%. All the knowledgeable fitness gurus will say the same thing. Whey protein can be a convenient way to get enough protein when you are on the go. It's also a fast acting protein so it is better after a workout, but food protein is superior all other times because it slowly release protein into your system for a steady supply. Creatine can help muscle gains a bit, but no supplement will come close to adding muscle like maximizing your bodies anabolic hormones. If you really want to add some lean muscle fast, you should keep carbs to a minimum during the week while getting enough EFA's (good fats, about 20% of your daily calories) and then spike your insulin levels on the weekend a few times by eating simple carbs. Insulin can be VERY anabolic if used this way, but you have to keep it low most of the time because too much insulin will suppress the production of anabolic hormones. Insulin is kind of a catch 22, some is great and too much is bad, for muscle growth (and health in general).
- Permanent muscle gain, I assume is sustained muscle mass? The only way you can accomplish that is to continue to eat clean train hard and get plenty of rest! Whey is a great product to use to aid in this process. Whey protein is an excellent source of the essential amino acid, leucine. Leucine is important for athletes as it plays a key role in promoting muscle protein synthesis and muscle growth. Research has shown that individuals who exercise benefit from diets high in leucine and have more lean muscle tissue and less body fat compared to individuals whose diet contains lower levels of leucine. Whey protein isolate has approximately 50% more leucine than soy protein isolate. I consume a filler and additive free whey product from http://www.bulkprotein.com Whey protein is a soluble, easy to digest protein and is efficiently absorbed into the body. It is often referred to as a "fast" protein for its ability to quickly provide nourishment to muscles.
