Mr Britain

Mr de Menezes was an innocent man, legally in Britain, who did nothing to contribute to his death.?

Were you aware of this?Did you realise this poor innocent man had been the victim of not only murder, but to add insult to injury a despicable attempt at character assassination? The story about his visa being two years out of date was just made up. The opening quote is from Coroner Sir Michael Wright. Kat Kat:Read the quote 'an innocent man' there's no ambiguity here.He was an innocent man. That's a fact.People run for tube trains every day.If that's not why he was running then the other explanation is he felt threatened. As he was clearly, as stated, innocent it can only be one of these two reasons. Utopia:I can honestly say I did not hear that.Have you a link? That would be disgraceful. Sage:Jack Straw said his visa was valid.Perhaps you should take it up with Jack Straw. Pirate Duchess:Well As i said the Coroner Sir Michael stated he was an innocent man. That much is fact. Therefore the assumption that innocent men don't run is flawed. If someone approached you with a gun would you not run?My guess is your survival instinct would kick in and flight would be your obvious choice. You cannot have a civilised society where innocent people are sacrificed like this.None of the police positively I.D'd him. This alone made the kill illegal. We're not sure if it's him but sure we'll kill him anyway? The mind boggles! Curious:This isn't about other countries it's about an incident in Britain. If other countries have slack standards that is their problem and has no bearing on this. It's about not sticking to the rules, like positively identifying the target. It's about having the decency not to add insult to injury by assassinating the victims character to save your own and here I refer in particular to Ian Blair.(the buck stops with him.) Michael W:Jack Straw sstated his visa was valid. That's the whole point of the question.Misinformation!Bad enough they took his life.Blackening his character to excuse their actions. What's that all about? That is just plain wrong. Troops killed in friendly fire have signed up to be in a war zone.Mr de Menezes was going about his business in a perfectly law abiding manner. He had the right to expect the laws of the land to be adhered to.They did not positively I.D. him.He was sacrificed, plain and simple.

Public Comments

  1. No I wasn't aware of that, I live under a rock....
  2. I'm sure there'll be a lot more revelations in this story Misty Blue First impression is of a serious cover up
  3. Perhaps so, but the CCTV shows he ran. Innocent people don't run from the police. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean that he deserved to be shot dead, but I just can't believe that he was wholly not to blame in some way.
  4. The police made a mistake, possibly understandable at that particular time but then committed a crime by covering up and lying about what and why they did what they did. Then of all things they told lies about the innocent man they shot. Disgraceful! And so are the comments in the press whereby certain journalists claim that it is wrong to have an inquest into this man's death because of the pressure the police were under. If they can't take the heat they should get out of the kitchen. I for one, do not want the police to go about killing innocent people in order to protect me.
  5. The british police will here, literally get away with murder. I appreciate the posting of this information. There should be a mass uprising against this atrocity and the high risk of precedent which will be set by it. Have you noted the appalling bias toward the police in response to my earlier question on this tragic incident ?
  6. it was just one big cover up to clear their own sorry asses, not the first and won't be the last time this happens.
  7. Thank you, Misty. This is in a long tradition of cover-up by the British police and higher authority, sometimes cover-up for state murder, as in the case of Blair Peach and Hilda Murrell. At the very least, there are people implicated in this present disgrace who should go down for a long stretch for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
  8. The whole thing stinks. The police messed up big time but nothing seems to getting done about it.
  9. That was not the worst part of their character assassination, no one seems to mention in these that the police put out he was a rapist.
  10. They shot him in cold blood. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1564852/The-last-moments-of-Jean-Charles-De-Menezes.html Then tried to cover up their ineptitude by flogging lie upon lie upon lie. As me dad used to say "truth will out". And so it has. May he have found peace with his God now.
  11. I know the cops are just trying to cover their sorry arses but I also agree with Kat. Innocent men dont run. Look at it another way, what if he had been a suicide bomber and the police had done nothing? it dont bear thinking about.
  12. They shouldn't have shot him, but what would people have said if he had got away and then turned out to be a suicide bomber and gone on to kill people. The police were in a position where they had to make an instant decision when the man they were following started to run, Its not an easy one to call and unfortunately for all it was called wrong. Very sad
  13. This is totally disgusting. They've made a terrible mistake and whilst looking at the consequences have tried to blacken the character of an innocent person. Sir Ian Blair should be sacked. This has got to come from the top. He was the top and so too on the government side was that other ineffective cretin also called Blair. Had both of them been shot the whole country would have been well rid!
  14. Your police in (Great?) Britain are "damned if they do and damned if they don't"...always in a no-win situation. Yes it was a tragedy and the cover up unacceptable but as many have pointed out, these police were on high alert for days on end and would have been equally damned if there had been an explosian. They are not robots but fallible humans and in general carry out their duties bound by many more restrictions than in other countries. Heyy try living in many countries I could name where you dont even get an answer if you call the police..My heart goes out to Mendez family ..they come from Soth America?.. I recall the police in Brazil (Sao Paolo or Rio) deliberately going out on patrol to "clean up" the streetboys (Teens and younger) ..this entailed shooting about 100 of them!! Maybe we should take them to task?...I can tell you how far our "disgust" would get!
  15. Absolutely wrong!! He had a forged visa and was therefore illegal!! Did you realise that there is a cover up that the police were not shadowing him but that it was actually soldiers from the Special Reconnaissance Regiment?!! Perhaps the identity of the witnesses should be challenged more!!!
  16. The police made a tragic mistake They are only human and we all can react without thinking.I think you will find that his visa had expired, but that does not give the police the right to shoot him. Remember all the troops killed by friendly fire. Much the same thing I guess.
