Is it smart to go running after weight lifting?
I am a Track Runner/ Football player and we started weight lifting for Football. Is it okay to do sprints afterwards. Will my muscles get smaller after this. I drink like a protein shake, but is it good running after weight lifting?

- Yes, it's ok, the general theory is if you run before weight lifting, then you won't be able to left as much or as long, you muscles fatigue faster, running after lifting weights affects your run also. But it's a great way to get fit, combining the 2, I do it at least 3 times a week...
- well that depends, will you be able to get the same quality run in even tho you are tired from working out. if you can run at the same pace for the same amount of time, it would not make a difference in your workout but it will give you more running endurance. but if not, it is a lot better that you work out after your quality run. personally i love to work out before i run. when you work out, in case if you haven't noticed, your muscles get temporarily bigger. this is called "swelling" or "pump". if your arms and legs have pump, you will be able to run faster until the pump goes away. but then you will be super tiered afterward. if you can keep running at the same pace in this tiered state, it will actually be a better endurance workout!
- never do run after lifting theirs a 75% chance more of pulling a muscle your muscles need a 6 hour break after every normal workout routine. I tried it once I didnt pull a muscle but i couldnt do more then 2 60m sprints at a time because my muscles would get to tired. so believe me dont try it.
- Better get those muscles relaxed with some endurance running...which hopefully will be slower than the sprints. Then perhaps work into the sprints...doing longer ones then shorter ones when you are completely warmed up. Richard
